Salvatore Fara was born in Sennori, but he lives and works in Sassari
In his early youth he attended the studio of the painter Mario Paglietti, who gave him his first lessons in the field of education and portrait view on the forms of nature. 
At the same time he completed his studies at the Institute of Art in Sassari with Filippo Figari.
In June of 1942, after a rigorous selection at the regional " Youth of the Italian Littorio " participates in the " Ludi Juveniles of culture and art - painting prize of the city of Florence " , finishing in sixth place among the young fascists of all Italy.
In 1943 , with a scholarship , he moved to Florence where he attended the Magisterium of Art and at the same time, a free course of nude at the Academy of Fine Arts, directed by the painter Felice Carena . During the Florentine residence that, because of the war , went on for over than two years, often attends various studies of important artists working in that city: Primo Conti , Pietro Annigoni , Caligiani , Spinelli , Grazzini and others.
In 1949 he moved to Rome to conduct studies on ancient and modern Art at Galleria Borghese  and at the Gallery of Modern Art in Valle Giulia. Even in the capital attended the studios of famous painters, including Trombadori , the sculptor Pericle Fazzini and Alberto Ziveri . Also in Rome , at the Institute of Industrial Art, under the guidance of Alberto Gerardi , follows courses of experimentation of various mixed style, encaustic , tempera emulsion , egg and wax and in particular, deepens the mural painting in buon fresco
