 Felice Melis Marini was born in Cagliari in 1871.

When Marini was sixteen, he moved to Rome where he enrolled in the Free School of the Nude; between September and November 1903, the artist worked in Venice on the creation of covers for musical albums and reviews. When he got back to Cagliari, he mounted a public exhibition of his Venetian works together with Filippo Figari; in 1911, he was present at the Exhibition of the Independents in Rome; he took part in the show for the calendar of the Exhibition of Turin at the
“Gran Palazzo del Giornale della Stampa” where he was awarded with a golden medal.
In 1912, he painted the panels for the mayor’s cabinet in the new Cagliari Town Hall.

In 1927, he moved to Milan, and he organized, together with Figari, the Sardinian pavilion of the Milan Fair. In 1931, he took part in the1st Exhibition of Sardinian Engraving in Rome as well as in the Exhibition of the “Stampa d'Arte” held at Mondadori bookshop in Milan, where he also had a personale at the "Casa d'Artisti" in 1939. In that same year, he was present at the Exhibition of Italian Engraving in Latin and Central America, curated by the Biennial of Venice. In 1949, he was appointed Honorary Supervisor of the Sardinian Bibliographic Department.

Melis Marini died in Cagliari in 1953.
