Mario Paglietti was born in Porto Torres in 1865.

In 1877, he entered the Trades and Crafts School in Prato; in 1883, Paglietti’s dream came true since his father enrolled him in the Albertina Academy of Turin. Unfortunately, two years later he was forced to suspend the course because he was called to arms. However, Paglietti felt he was meant to be a painter and an artist, and so he kept on improving his gifts, which led him to become a portrait-painter in great demand. As a matter of fact the aristocratic families asked him to make portraits of their relatives and descendants. This is why Paglietti’s portraits have been found all over Sardinia.

Among his works, it is worth mentioning: "San Domenico" in St Augustine Church in Sassari, "San Pietro" in Tempio Cathedral, "Santa Margherita M. Locoque" in Buddusò, "Le Anime del Purgatorio" in Ploaghe or in Nuoro.

Paglietti died in Sassari in 1943.
